The police in Rajasthan’s Udaipur arrested a school teacher on Wednesday who was expelled from her job after she expressed joy over Pakistan’s victory against India in Sunday’s T20 World Cup match.
Nafeesa Attari, the school teacher, was arrested by Udaipur’s Ambamata Police and was produced before a court. The court then sent the teacher to jail.
The teacher has been booked under IPC section 153 (B) (Imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration), said SHO of Amba Mata police station Narpat Singh.
Nafeesa Attari was a teacher at Neerja Modi School in Udaipur. After Pakistan’s victory over India on Sunday, Nafeesa Attari shared a status on WhatsApp along with pictures of Pakistani players, mentioning ‘We wonnn’.
When one of the parents asked the teacher whether she supported Pakistan, Nafeesa replied in the affirmative with a ‘Yes’.
The screenshots of the WhatsApp status went viral, leading to the school taking action against her and expelling her from the job.
